Understanding Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) – and What's Really Going On
A practical guide to what's happening, and what you can do about it.
Bloating. Gas. Cramps. That unpredictable gut.
You've been told it's "just IBS." Maybe you've even been told it's stress. And yet, it still feels like something's not right.
You've changed your diet. Taken supplements. Tried to relax. But the symptoms keep coming back. Here's the truth: IBS isn't one thing. It's a label that gets used when the tests say nothing's wrong, but you know there is.
What's covered in this session
- The five key causes that can lead to IBS symptoms (and how to tell which apply to you)
- How stress plays a key role — but doesn't actually cause IBS
- How to recognise digestive performance problems
- What to do if your microbiome's out of balance
- How to identify food intolerances that really matter
- Herbal and home-based strategies that can help, safely and practically
What makes this different
IBS isn't a mystery once you know what to look for. This session unpacks what's really happening beneath that vague label.
You'll learn how your system works, and how to support it intelligently. This isn't about cutting out food groups or following strict protocols. It's about understanding what's going on inside your gut, and what you can do to start bringing it back into balance.
Simon Mills brings nearly five decades of practice as a medical herbalist, a background as co-founder of the University of Exeter's Centre for Complementary Health Studies, and experience advising Government and the House of Lords on herbal medicine.
His approach connects modern science with traditional herbal practice. No fads. No miracle cures. Just practical, evidence-informed guidance.
